Participants will be able to interact with others, make new friends, and learn by playing in a literacy-enriched environment. Each session will include activities, sensory materials, and toys. No Registration Required Free and open to children ages 0-5 and their caregivers What to expect: large, open room space, with windows room arranged with tables for craft and sensory play, mat spaces for playing with blocks and toys, a cart with a variety of books accessible to read quiet music played during the hour children moving freely from one activity to another Children's Room staff member available for questions, recommendations for books & activities, and general assistance Caregivers responsible for monitoring their children

  • America 250 Storytime - Reading is Revolutionary!

    Tuesday, June 16, 2026 10:30—11:30 AMGrady RoomThomas Room Old Saybrook Public Works Director William Claffey will join us today to share stories about the construction trucks and equipment that is used to help keep Old Saybrook roads in good condition! PSSST...there may even be one of those trucks coming too!  During June & July, join us for America 250 - Reading is Revolutionary! We'll read stories that highlight the bold and brave individuals who helped shape our nation, then and now. Story time for all! Children and caregivers are welcome to join us for stories, fingerplays, bounces, and so much more.  Enjoy free play after the stories and songs. What to expect: *large, open room space with windows *room is arranged with chairs around a large playmat, facing the reading chair, and tables are behind the reader that hold a felt board and covered boxes with items for free play *hour starts with music and movement activities, followed by sitting for the stories (typically 2-3), then ends with more music, singing, and movement activities, including bubbles *free play begins after the bubbles *quiet music is played during free play Free and open to all. Registration is preferred, but not required. Register online between 5/16/2026 10:00 AM and 6/15/2026 8:00 PM.
