Acton Public Library Policy Manual – Approved 4/13/2021.
Program Policy The Acton Public Library provides programs of educational, cultural and civic nature, to further the enrichment of all of our community. Programs may represent the wide range of views and ideas contained in our materials collection and will represent the Library’s philosophy of open access to information.
Circulation Policy This policy describes the library card, borrowing process, loan periods, renewals, and the new approach to fees associated with the lending and circulation of materials from Acton Library.
Computer and Internet Policy This policy defines and explains the appropriate uses of the public computers and library WiFi use as administered by the Library.
Meeting Room Policy and Application The Grady Thomas Program Room capacity is 75. It can be divided in two and there is access to a kitchen. Tables, chairs, sound system, and media are available. The Friends’ Conference Room can be used for small meetings or study groups. Programs must be free and open to the public.
Child Safety Policy Please take the opportunity to read this short policy regarding use of the Children’s Room Facilities. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult in the library.
Exhibits and Loan Policy (Art) These items are displayed for educational and entertainment purposes and selection does not imply endorsement of the artist’s or collectors’ views or themes. Works of art should be suitable for a family setting. These items are considered on short term loan to the library and have specific set-up and removal dates. The library shall not accept for exhibit or display any materials being offered for sale, will not facilitate sales of art or objects, and there will be no price tags allowed on the pieces.
Notary Policy There is a maximum of three items. Witnesses must be supplied by self. Two forms of ID needed, including one photo ID. Call first to make sure Notary is available.
Proctoring Policy To help support distance learners the library will be able to perform simple proctoring services. Must make an appointment in advance to have test proctored. Test must come directly from Institution/Professor. Computers at library cannot be altered. Student must supply self addressed stamped envelope.
HotSpot, Laptop and Telescope Lending Policy and Agreement: The library lends both wireless hotspots and/or laptops and a telescope to Old Saybrook residents over the age of 18 with a valid ID. These items can be reserved but not renewed. They circulate for 2 weeks.
